If you are the instructor of record for a class, use Self Service Banner via My Missouri State to grant overrides. Only use Internet Native Banner (INB) for overrides when you are performing them on behalf of someone else (e.g. deans, depts., secretaries).

  1. Open Internet Explorer and login to INB (See Logging into Internet Native Banner for detailed instructions).
  2. Watch for a yellow bar across the top of your screen. Click on it and select Run Active X Control.
  3. Click Run or Yes to any pop‐up boxes.
  4. Type your username (usually the first letter of your first name, and your last name) and password.
  5. Leave the Database field blank and either press ENTER or click Connect.
  6. Enter SFASRPO in the Go To… box and press ENTER.

  7. In the ID field type the student's M‐Number. If you do not know the M‐Number, there are several ways to search for a student:
    1. Go to the name field and enter the student's name (last, first).
      1. Example: Rovig,Nicole
    2. If you do not know or want to type the full name, the wildcard (%) search can be used.
      1. Example:Sm%If there are multiple students with the same name, a small box will with a drop down menu will appear where you can select your student or refine your criteria, or click on the drop down arrow between the ID field and the name field. Click on Person Search and tab to the Last Name field.
  8. When you have your criteria entered, press F8 to execute your query (search).
  9. Use your arrow keys to highlight the student you want and click Select in the toolbar.
  10. In the Term field, enter the correct academic term and press Tab. Terms are built by appending a term code to the academic year as follows:
    1. Spring: YYYY20
    2. Summer: YYYY30
    3. Fall: YYYY40
      1. Example: 200940 = Fall 2009

  11. Click Next Block in the toolbar.
  12. You are now in the Student Permits and Overrides key block.

  13. Click on the Arrow key under Permit. The Registration Permit‐Override Codes box will appear.

  14. Select the appropriate override and then OK. See Table 1 below for more information on override codes.
  15. You have three options at this point:
    1. Tab over to the CRN field and enter the CRN, or you may use the drop down under CRN to search for the number. Entering the CRN automatically populates the Subject, Course Number and Section information.
    2. Skip the CRN field. Tab over to the Subject, Course Number and Section fields and enter them. Doing so will automatically populate the CRN field.
    3. Skip the CRN field. Enter the Subject and Course Number. Leaving the CRN and Section fields blank allows the override to apply to any section of the course.
  16. Click the Save button.

Once you click Save the User box is populated. This displays who performed the override for the student.

  17. To assist a different student with an override, click Rollback in the toolbar and begin with step #4. If you are finished, click the black X and return to the General Menu screen.
