Use the guides below to set up Office 365 Education (student email) on Kindle Fire, Palm Pre, and Sidekick.

Step-by-step guide for Other Devices

Kindle Fire

  1. Locate the email application on your Kindle. It may be in your Favorites or on your Carousel. If not, you can always open the Apps section and find it there.


  2. When inside of the email application, tap the menu button.
  3. After you hit the menu button, press the Add account button.


  4. Next you'll be prompted to select an email provider. The precise provider is not listed, so you'll need to select Other.


  5. Next you'll be prompted to enter your login information for the account. The credentials you'll need to provide are as follows: 
    Email@missouristate.edu

    BearPass password
  6. Next you'll need to select what type account the email will be configured as. You'll want to select POP 3.


  7. Now that the type of account has been selected, the server settings will have to be defined. The first settings will be the Incoming Server Settings. The following list and screenshot will provide the necessary values that need to be entered:
    UsernameBearPassLogin@live.missouristate.edu (example: abc123@live.missouristate.edu)
    Password: BearPass password
    POP3 Servermail.office365.com
    Security TypeSSL (Always)
    Authentication TypePLAIN
    Port995 
     
  8. Now the Outgoing Server Settings need to be defined. The following list and screen will provide the necessary values that need to be entered:
    SMTP Servermail.office365.com
    Security TypeTLS (Always)
    Port587 (Make sure require sign in is checked)
    Authentication TypeLOGIN
    UsernameBearPassLogin@live.missouristate.edu (example: abc123@live.missouristate.edu)
    Password: BearPass password
     
  9. Next you'll be asked to select how often your Kindle will check for mail. Select the one that's most appropriate for you. Click 'Next'


  10. Now you'll just have to define the name for outgoing messages, and give the account a name.
    Type your name: Input the name you'd like on outgoing messages
    Give this account a name: Name the actual account for your Kindle (Naming it something like Missouri State is recommended)
  11. Type your name: Input the name you'd like on outgoing messages
  12. Give this account a name: Name the actual account for your Kindle (Naming it something like Missouri State is recommended) 

Palm Pre

  1. Tap the Mail Icon
  2. On the top-left of the screen, tap Email > Preferences & Accounts.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom and tap Add An Account.
  4. Fill out according to your information below
    Mail Type: Exchange (EAS)
    Serverhttps://m.outlook.com/
    EmailBearPassEmail@live.missouristate.edu
    Domain: (blank)
    UsernameBearPassLogin@live.missouristate.edu
    Password: BearPass Password

Sidekick

The T-mobile Sidekick series of phones generally support IMAP mail server connections and can be set up to access your Office 365 Education for Students e-mail using the following information:

  1. Go to the Mail screen.
  2. Scroll to the Add Account tab.
  3. Choose POP/IMAP from the list and tap Add.
  4. In the Add POP/IMAP Account wizard, choose Other POP/IMAP.
  5. Tap Next.
  6. Enter the following information:
    1. Mail Server: outlook.com
    2. Protocol: IMAP/SSL
    3. Username: YourEmail@live.missouristate.edu
    4. Password: Your Office 365 Education for Students Password
  7. Tap Next.
  8. Enter the following information: Tap Next.
    1. From Name: Your Name
    2. From Address: YourEmail@live.missouristate.edu
    3. Reply-To Name: Your Name
    4. Reply-To Address: YourEmail@live.missouristate.edu
  9. Choose Separate tab from the Email Storage list.
  10. Tap Done.

Allow your mail messages a few moments to download and you should now have access to your Office 365 Education for Students e-mail on your T-Mobile Sidekick.
