Now that Missouri State has officially migrated all faculty, staff, and student account to Office 365 Education, there are bound to be lots of questions about this new system. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about Office 365. 

What is Office 365 Education and why did Missouri State Faculty and Staff move to it?

Office 365 Education provides Missouri State employees with many great new features for email and collaboration. This included increased mailbox sizes from 1 GB to 50 GB, 1 TB of storage in the cloud with OneDrive, access to cloud-based collaboration tools like SharePoint, and Office Apps (Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, and more) that can be installed on up to 5 personal computers per employee (either PC or Mac). Moving faculty and staff email to Office 365 Education allows for a robust and secure email delivery, as well as providing increased storage and new tools.

When is this going to happen?

The migration was completed on May 20, 2016.

How will I access my Office 365 Education account? 

If you have the Outlook client installed, you can continue to access your email and calendar through that. However, if you would like to leverage all of the Office 365 Education features including 1 TB of OneDrive storage, go to

Will my email account name change?

Is a different Login name required to open the email account in Outlook and/or the Office 365 Education web client?

Yes. If you are used to logging into your email with your Public ID, you will now be using your BearPass ID. For instance, you will log in as ( instead of (

Is a different password required to open the email account in Outlook and/or the Office 365 Education web client?

No. You will still use your same BearPass password to log in to your email account as before.

Can you run two email accounts at the same time in either Outlook or Office 365 Education Web?

Yes. In Outlook, multiple accounts can easily be setup and they can be accessed simultaneously. In the Outlook Web App, there is a link provided to open another Office 365 Education account that you have access to, such as a departmental account. Do I need to install an e-mail client to use Office 365 Education?

Many users will find the Microsoft Outlook Web App ( to be robust enough for their needs on and off campus. It is accessible by browser and doesn't require additional software installation. An alternative to the Outlook Web App is having an Outlook client installed on a computer.

Is there support for mobile devices like smartphones & tablets?

What sort of features differ between Outlook Web App and an installed Outlook desktop client?

Which browser versions are compatible with Outlook Web App?

  • Internet Explorer 8 or above

  • Safari 5 or above

  • Latest FireFox "Release" version

  • Latest Chrome "Stable" version

Note: Outlook Web App also has a light version that can be enabled in the settings that supports a reduced set of features across almost any browser.

How do I associate a picture with my account?

  1. Log in to

  2. Click the profile icon at the top-right part of the screen next to your name and choose View Account

  3. Click Personal info in the left sidebar

  4. Select Change photo at the top of the page to upload a picture 

How much email storage space is available in Office 365 Education? 

50GB is the total mail file size limit. This is 50 times the space that was available to most faculty and staff in the past. Since we have gotten into Office 365, we are encouraging users to import their old archives back into their mailboxes. This makes them searchable and available with the rest of the user’s mailbox. Users are encouraged to copy these off to a local machine and import them into the mailboxes, as it would solve availability problems and would keep network storage (such as Bear1 and Clementine) from filling up.
