The Spreadsheet Budgeting software, also known as SCT Desktop Tools or GODDTOP, is a plug-in that is used by Microsoft Excel to interface with the Banner databases. The software allows users to pull data directly from a database using ODBC, change it, and then upload the new data back to the database. The Banner GODDTOP Add In for Microsoft Excel also allows users to query a database. This tool must be installed on a per-user basis, so it is necessary to perform a brief installation prior to first use.

- Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007
- 21MB of free space on disk
Setup and Installation
The installation of the Goddtop plug-in for Microsoft Excel consists of three parts: Part 1 is the initial installation of SCT Desktop Tools software, Part 2 is the installation of the SCT Desktop Tools, and Part 3 consists of setting up the Goddtop plug-in within Microsoft Excel. All three sections must be completed in order for the Goddtop plug-in to work.
Part 1: Initial Installation
- Locate the installation files by clicking Start>Run, typing \\bear1.missouristate.edu\apps\Banner Tools into the Open field, and then clicking OK.

- Copy the file Goddtop.zip to the desktop by right-clicking the file and selecting Copy in the pop-up box. Navigate to the desktop, right-click again, and then select Paste in the pop-up box.
- Double-click Goddtop.zip to open, and then extract and double-click Goddtop.exe. The Welcome window, shown below, opens.

- Click Next, leaving the installation location set to the default.

- Unselect GODDTOP Source, and then click Next.

- Click Finish to exit SCT Desktop Tools.
Part 2: SCT Desktop Tools Installation
- Click Start>My Computer, and then navigate to C:\sct\banner\goddtop\setup. Double-click goddtop-setup.exe and the Welcome window, shown below, opens.

- Click Next, and then click Yes to accept the license agreement.

- Click Next, leaving the installation location set to the default. Click Next to accept the default installation location.

- Choose the Restart option, and then click Finish to reboot the computer.

Part 3: Excel Add-In Setup
The setup for the Excel Add-in is different depending on the version of Excel (2003 or 2007) that is being used.
Excel 2003 Add-In Setup
- After the computer has finished rebooting, click Start>All Programs>Microsoft Office>Microsoft Office Excel 2003.
- Click the Tools menu, and then choose Add-Ins. The Add-Ins window opens.
- Click the Browse button. The Browse window opens.
- Navigate to C:\sct\banner\goddtop* and select *DesktopTools.xla.
- Click OK. There will now be a Banner menu located at the top of the Excel window.
Excel 2007 Add-In Setup
- After the computer has finished rebooting, click Start>All Programs>Microsoft Office>Microsoft Office Excel 2007.
- Click the Office button, located in the top left corner of the Excel window.
- Choose the Excel Options button at the bottom of the list. The Excel Options window opens.
- Click Add-Ins, from the menu on the left side.
- In the Manage field, select Excel Add-Ins, and then click Go. The Add-Ins window opens.
- Click the Browse button.
- In the Browse window, navigate to C:\sct\banner\goddtop*, and then select *DesktopTools.xla.
- Click OK for both the Browse and Add-Ins windows to complete the installation.
Running GODDTOP in Microsoft Excel 2007
To run and install GODDTOPP in Microsoft Excel 2007, first open Microsoft Excel 2007 by clicking Start>All Programs>Microsoft Office>Excel 2007.
1. After opening Excel, click the Office button in the upper left corner of the window, and then click Excel Options at the bottom of the Office button dialog. 
3. Select Add-Ins from the left menu of the dialog box that pops up.

4. At the bottom of the dialog, locate the Manage dropdown. By default, it should show Excel Add-Ins; if it does not, select it from the drop down and click Go.

5. Click Browse, located on the right side of the dialog box.
6. Navigate to the GODDTOP Installation directory (by default, it is C:\sct\banner\goddtop). Locate the file DesktopTools.xla.
 | NOTE: If you do not see this file in the directory, it is necessary to run a second installation. Otherwise, proceed to step 12. |
How to Connect
Once installed, the SCT Desktop Tools, specifically GODDTOP, is ready for use. To start the GODDTOP plug-in:
- Click Start>All Programs>Microsoft Office>Microsoft Excel 2007.
- Select the Add-Ins tab at the top.
- Select Banner from the Menu Commands section of the Ribbon, and then choose connect to database from the drop-down menu.
- Enter your Banner User Name, Password, and the name of the database you are connecting to.
- Click the Connect button to connect.
