"General Person" is a Banner term that relates to all person or person-like entities, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, vendors, companies, and corporations.  Any person in the system can ultimately be tied back to the main general person tables (i.e., SPRIDEN, SPBPERS, SPRADDR, SPRTELE, SPREMRG, GOREMAL) via a PIDM.  A PIDM is a unique system identifier that is not normally known to the person or even to the users of the system.  This allows changes to other IDs, such as M-Number and SSN, without affecting the underlying database connections to that person.  See Banner PIDMs for more details.

To facilitate future collaboration with the West Plains campus, general person data is shared between the two systems.  This allows for more efficiency in sharing data between the two campuses.  West Plains maintains autonomy with their Student and Financial Aid modules.

Until the Springfield campus is completely live with Banner, an automated synchronization process has been designed and implemented by Computer Services - MIS.  Exceptions from the nightly synchronization processing are displayed on the Banner Daily Exception Report, which can be used to research, review, and complete individual exceptions.
