Unified Knowledge Management
Last changed: Apr 03, 2009 10:28 by Matthew Stublefield

I forgot to post this last week after returning from HELIX 2009 and thought I'd share it here, since one of my presentations was about this wiki. The below is from my news post in my personal space on this wiki from March 20, 2009.

I have just returned from HELIX2009 and the conference went very well indeed. I had two presentations this year, both of which went well, and the sessions I attended were quite good. Though overall attendance seemed to be down, I met some interesting people and made some good contacts at the exhibitor hall, so overall I'd call it a win.

I'm seriously considering doing an audio recording of my presentations with fancy slide transitions and whatnot, but until then you'll have to settle for PDFs and a brief synopsis (copied from the HELIX page, since I wrote this originally and don't feel like writing something new right now).

Building a Unified Knowledge Management System with Confluence

Knowledge management is more than just putting documentation onto a website. Rather, it is tying all that documentation together, getting it to the right people and using it to enhance and assist your institution. Missouri State University has implemented Atlassian's Confluence as a documentation repository for both our standard technical documents and our Banner documentation. Attend this presentation to learn a bit about the trials and tribulations of starting a wiki project, as well as what having a centralized documentation repository can do for your institution.

Get Over Yourself: Building the Modern Help Desk

Competition for students is on the rise, and likewise students are demanding increasingly complex services. At Missouri State University, we are in the process of transitioning from computer support to user support with an emphasis on not just meeting our users' needs, but on exceeding their expectations and providing services to help them achieve greatness. This presentation will discuss strategies for opening up IT, embracing whatever technology your end-users ask you to support and learning how to realistically keep up with quickly evolving technology.
