The Blackboard Instructor app enables you to view course content, connect with students in discussions, and interact with your class in Blackboard Collaborate. 

With Blackboard Instructor, you can perform these tasks:

  • Preview course items, assignments, and tests.
  • Participate in discussions.
  • Send announcements.
  • Interact with your class in Blackboard Collaborate.

For mobile grading functionality, you can use the Bb Grader iPad app. Grading workflows are scheduled to be added to Blackboard Instructor in the coming months

Supported Platforms*

Your phone or tablet needs one of these operating systems to run the Blackboard app.

  • iOS 9.0+
  • Android 4.2+
  • Windows 10+

Installing the app and logging in*

Follow these steps to download and install the Bb Student app.

  1. From your device, access the appropriate online store.
    • iTunes StoreSM on your iPhone®, iPod touch®
    • Google Play™ on your Android® device
    • Windows Store on your Windows® device
  2. Search for Blackboard Instructor.
  3. Install the app on your mobile device.
  4. Open Blackboard Instructor and search for Missouri State University.
  5. You will be prompted to log in on the web.
  6. Log in with your Bearpass Login and Bearpass Password.

You should now have access to all of your classes where you are an instructor. It will note which classes are not available. Students can use the Blackboard app to access their courses.


Courses and OrganizationsAfter you log in, you see all your current courses where you're enrolled as an instructor, TA, course builder, or another custom role. Tap a course to view its content. You can view Organizations where you are the leader or another custom role in the app menu.
Course Outline

From the course list, tap a course card to see its Course Overview. This concise view of your course provides access to these items:

You can also view a list of instructors and send email to them. Your courses may look different than they do in a web browser, but you'll easily navigate through your content.

Course ContentEasily scan course materials and access what you need. Tap a piece of content to view its full details.

You can view Microsoft® Word, Excel®, PowerPoint®, and PDF content that your instructors include in courses.


Collaborate, Test and Assignments, Discussions, and Announcements*

CollaborateBlackboard Instructor includes Collaborate Ultra for real-time web conferencing on your mobile device. Your sessions are listed within courses in the app for easy access. You can also join sessions that aren't associated with a course if the moderator provides you a link. Collaborate isn’t supported for Blackboard Instructor on Windows at this time.
Test and AssignmentsTests and assignments are included in Course Content. You can view an assessment's details and preview it to see the student experience.
DiscussionsSee the current activity and participate in discussions. Read and reply to your students' posts.
AnnouncementsSend announcements within individual courses to keep students motivated and on track.
