You can add single items as well as files from your computer, flash drive, cloud storage, or Blackboard Content Collection to your Blackboard course to share with students.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Go to a content area, point to Build Content, and then click Item.

  2. In the Name box, type a name for the item.
  3. In the text box area, type any any text you want to associate with the item. You can also insert media files (images, video, presentations), hyperlinks to web pages, HTML content, and more.

    You may have to complete some additional information if you add media items in the text box. Images, for example, will require descriptions to meet accessibility requirements.

  4. Under Attachments, attach any files you want to make available to your students.

    1. Choose Browse My Computer to upload files stored on your computer or a flash drive.
    2. Choose Browse Content Collection to link to files stored in your Blackboard Content Collection.
    3. Choose Browse Cloud Storage to upload files from your personal cloud storage account (OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, and OneDrive for Business.) If your files are stored in your Missouri State OneDrive account in Office 365, select the OneDrive for Business option.

  5. Set the Standard Options for this new course item.

    1. Select Yes on "Permit Users to View this Content” if you want your students to be able to see this item.
    2. Select Yes on “Track Number of Views” if you’d like to keep track of user statistics for this item.
    3. To "Select Date and Time Restrictions", enter the dates you want this item to be displayed for students. The “Display After” option will make the item visible to students after the date and time you select. The “Display Until” option will hide the item from students after the date and time you select.
  6. When you are finished, click Submit. The item and any files you attached to it will be visible in your content area.
