Before grading with a Rubric, you need to associate it with a gradable item, such as:

  • Assignments
  • Essay, Short Answer, and File Response test questions
  • Blogs and Journals
  • Wikis
  • Discussion Board forums and threads

Step-by-step guide

  1. Access the Grade Center, and select the attempt that you'll be grading with the rubric.

  2. Click the arrow beneath the score entry pane to show the Grading Panel.

  3. Click the name of the Rubric that's been associated with the assignment to bring down the Rubric's values.
    1. Clicking the rubric's title will open the rubric up for inline grading.

    2. Clicking the highlighted box will pop the Rubric up in a new window.

  1. Check the levels of proficiency that the student has earned.
  2. A running Raw Total score appears as you make point selections. Type a score in the Change the number of points box to override the selected score, and type overall Feedback to the student.

  3. When grading is complete, click Save Rubric to save the score and feedback and return to the attempt. If you click Cancel you will leave the rubric without saving your selections.
