You can import test banks and question pools from a previous course in Blackboard or questions exported and sent to you from another professor. You might also have questions made available by your textbook publisher or from Word and Excel documents (which must be formatted correctly.) Check your specific publisher's website for instructions on how to export and save the questions in a format that is compatible with importing to Blackboard Learn.

Step-by-step guide

  1. On the Control Panel, expand the Course Tools section and click Tests, Surveys, and Pools.

  2. On the Tests, Surveys, and Pools page, click Pools.

  3. On the Pools page, click Import Pool.

  4. On the Pool Import page, locate the appropriate file using one of the following options:
    • To upload a file from your computer, click Browse My Computer.
    • To upload a file from the course's storage repository click Browse Content Collection.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. The import process will begin. Once the process has finished you will receive a results screen (hopefully without errors!) Select OK
  7. When you return to the Pools page, find your pool and select Edit from the contextual menu. Within the Edit menu, verify that the questions and answers imported correctly.

  8. Then from a test canvas (with no attempts) you can find questions from your pool.
