Step-by-step guide

Installing the Components from Vertigo (the easy way)

To install every component needed for BDM Web Access, close Internet Explorer and run the installer at \\\INSTALL\BANNER\BDM Components\ApplicationXtender Web Access Client Components 7.0.msi

To do that, you can follow the step-by-step guide, below.

  1. If Internet Explorer is still open, close it.
  2. Open the Start menu and type the above path. Press ENTER.
  3. Windows will probably ask if you want to run the file. Hit Run.

  4. An installer should appear, as in the screenshot below. Click Next. (note that you can click the screen shot images in this guide to enlarge them).

  5. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.

  6. Click Next again.

  7. Click Next.

  8. Click Install.

  9. You will probably get a UAC Prompt like the one below. Click Yes.

  10. Wait while the components install. When they’re done, click Finish.

Installing the Components from Within BDMS (the hard way)

If you need to install the components manually for troubleshooting (or because you're having issues with the installer), use the Web Access link on to log in with your PROD credentials (such as JDOE or CSMART).

As soon as you log in, click Help within the BDMS page and click Check Installed Components in the help menu.

The Component Check window should pop up. Click the icon next to a component (shown below) and answer the installation prompts to install each component. It may take a bit for the "Current install status" to refresh- clicking on that part of the window a few times will usually make it change. Once you've installed all of the components, it's a good idea to restart Internet Explorer.

After that is done, you will still be prompted to install some CAB files when completing certain tasks. Specifically, Internet Explorer will ask if it's okay to install and Simply answer yes to those prompts when you are attempting to open a document or scan a new one.

  • The components are specific to a computer.  If you get a new computer or use someone else's computer, you may have to install the components.
  • When upgrades to BDMS are performed, new components may need to be installed.
  • If an older version of a component is already installed, you may need to uninstall the older version before you will be able to install the new version.
