This guide will help you set up your printer properties so that you will be able to print so that the page will flip along the left or top edge. The computers in the Open Access Labs are set to flip along the left side automatically. Each printer is different and while these instructions will work in the computer labs on campus they might not work for your printer at home.

These guides were made to work in conjuction with the Open Access Lab printers. The steps will be similar for other printers, but the process varies a bit by printer model.

Step-by-step guide

Microsoft Office 2007/2010 for Windows

  1. Click on the Office button in the top-right corner of your Office 2007. In Office 2010 or 2013, select the File tab.

  2. Select Print from the drop-down menu.

  3. Click Properties.

  4. Under the Finishing tab, there is the Flip Pages Up option. Toggling this will allow you to print so the pages flip along the left or top edge.

Microsoft Office 2007/2011 for Mac

While in Office for Mac, the Menu bar at the top of the screen will have options related to Office.

  1. To print, click File > Print. You can also press  ⌘ + P  on your keyboard to print.

  2. A Print dialogue box will appear. Click on the drop-down menu that says Copies & Pages.

  3. From the menu, select Layout.

  4. The dialogue box will change. Click on drop-down menu next to Two-Sided.

  5. Select the option for Long-Edge binding.

  6. Check the box that says Flip Horizontally. Then click Print.
