A student, advisor, Department Head, Dean, approver, or proxy for any of the below can request to have a hold removed.  When an approver, Department Head, Dean, or his/her proxy requests to have a hold removed, the request automatically jumps to that point in the flow chart.  For example, if a Department Head requests to have a DG hold removed, the hold will be removed with no further steps.  If a Department Head requests to have a DX hold removed, the hold request will be sent to the Dean of the college.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Go to the Registration Status page

    1. For students – log into My Missouri State and click on the Academics tab.  Look in the “Registration Tools” channel.
    2. For Faculty and Staff – log into My Missouri State and click on the Teaching & Advising tab.  Look in the “Student Information” channel.
  2. Click on the link where it says DG-Not Admitted Degree Prgrm (DG).  (if the student has a DX hold it will say DX) You will then be asked to log in.
  3. Click in the text box and type a reason why the student has not been admitted to a major and why the hold should be removed.

  4. Click Submit Request.

Reviewing Request

  1. Log into My Missouri State and click on the Workflow tab.

  2. In the “My Worklist” channel are the requests waiting to be processed.  Click on the link to open more details.

  3. At this point you have the option to approve or deny the request.  Click on the appropriate radio button in the center of the screen.

  4. Enter a reason and any notes to the student in the text box.  This note will be seen by the student.

  5. Click Complete.
  6. An email will be sent to the student with the decision.  An email will also be sent to the advisor if he/she were the initial requestor.
  7. If this was a request to remove a DG hold and it was approved, the hold will now be removed.  If it was a request to remove a DX hold and was approved, the request will be forwarded to the Dean of the College.  The Dean will then follow the steps found in the section titled “Reviewing Requests.”

Exceptions

There are a few exceptions to the typical hold workflow.  When hold removals are requested in these exceptions, differences are noted in the workflow chain.

College of Business

When it is requested to remove a DG or DX hold on any College of Business major, the request will be routed directly to the Director of the College of Business Advisement Center.  This person will review and make decisions to approve or deny the request with no further steps in the chain.

College of Education

When it is requested to remove a DG or DX hold on any College of Education major, the request will be routed directly to the Director of the College of Education Advisement Center.  This person will review and make decisions to approve or deny the request with no further steps in the chain.

Department of Psychology

When it is requested to remove a DG or DX hold on any Psychology major, the request will be routed directly to the Director of the Psychology Advisement Center.  This person will review and make decisions to approve or deny the request with no further steps in the chain.

Proxy

At any time, an individual in the workflow chain can assign another person to act on their behalf and make decisions for them.  This can be done for short periods like vacations, or indefinitely.

Requesting a Proxy

To request another person to act as your proxy, email Registrar@MissouriState.edu.  Please provide the name and email address of who you would like to perform your duties.  Also provide the person’s BearPass number and the end date of the proxy access if you have that information.  You will need to indicate that you want the proxy to perform proxy duties for the “DG/DX workflow.”  You will continue to receive email notifications of approvals and denials, as will your proxy.  To make changes to another proxy or remove the proxy access, email the Office of the Registrar again.
