Sometimes you will need higher permissions to access a program in order to install or run something. To do this, you will need to run that program with administrative privileges.  The process was shown running Firefox, but will be the same for any software.

You will need to have administrative access to the computer for this to work.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Right click the program icon on your desktop, your Start menu, or in its application folder. (An icon on your toolbar will not work.)
  2. From the context menu, click Run as administrator.

  3. A window will pop up asking you to confirm. Click Yes.

The program window will open and you will be running with administrative privileges until you close it.
