I'm unable to see the Discussion Board / Test / Content that my instructor says is on Blackboard.

Solution 1: Double check.
Ensure that you're in the right course. The course title appears in the upper left hand side of the Course Menu on the left side of the screen.
Solution 2: Search for the item in the Course Map

Once you know you are in the right course, you can open the Course Map.

  1. Click on the double folder icon on the top right of the Course Menu on the left side of the screen.

  2. On the pop-up Course Map window, use the plus/minus icons to expand/collapse the folders and try to locate the item.
  3. Or, to fully expand the tree, click on the + icon on the top right of the window and search.

Solution 3: Have you done all that's needed?

Some instructors use a tool in Blackboard to limit access to content (such as a test, assignment, etc.) that requires you to complete other tasks before it's available to you. Make sure that you've done all the work that your instructor has asked of you on Blackboard, and check again. Re-read the instructions!

Solution 4: Log out and back in again!

Just like the old fashioned reboot, it can't hurt to log off of Blackboard with the sign-out button in the upper right corner and then log back in. If you still can’t see the item you’re looking for, contact your instructor and ask them to use Student Preview mode to make sure the item is available to students.
