To set up wireless on your Kindle Paperwhite, Voyage, or Oasis, follow the steps below.

Which Network to Use:

MSU: Living Off Campus
MSU Open: Visiting in the PSU, Welcome Center, or Library
MSU ResNet: Living On Campus
MSU Sponsored: Departmental Guest Speaker Access (Must get key from Networking and Telecommunication)

Step-by-step guide

  1. Tap the menu button in the upper right corner. A drop down list will appear, select the Settings option.

  2. On the settings menu select the Wi-Fi Networks option.

  3. A pop up menu will appear. Select the option that says MSU, or if you live on campus, choose MSU ResNet.

  4. Enter your Bearpass Login information into the following boxes:
    1. User Name:  BearPass Login (ex: abc123)
    2. Password:    BearPass Password

  5. If your Kindle Paperwhite is unable to connect it will pop up with a box that asks if you would like to set up the connection. Tap Set Up and make sure the following settings match the pictures below.
    1. Network Name: MSU (or MSU Residential for students who currently live on campus)

    2. Connection Type: DHCP
    3. IP Address: Leave Blank
    4. Subnet Mask: Leave Blank

    5. Router: Leave Blank
    6. DNS: Leave Blank

    7. Security Type: WPA2
    8. Version: Enterprise

    9. EAP Method: PEAP
    10. Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2

    11. Username: Your Bearpass Login (ex: abc123)
    12. Password:  Your Bearpass Login Password

Sometimes, even though the information is correct, it will still say it is unable to connect. However, it is possible that the Kindle Paperwhite is connected to the wireless. If the icon near the battery at the top changes from " — " to the Wi-Fi bars, then you are connected.
